It is nothing short of thrilling
when Joseph rises from imprisonment
to become Ruler of Egypt.
We dance before the Lord with abandonment
every time we read it;
cheers and drinks all around.
The underdog rises to the top
and God is nothing but good,
better, and best.
But what was God before that scene?
We have 5 dismal years,
and God is not fair.
Nay,10 years,
and we think God is cruel.
Can we acknowledge that we love God most, only after He comes through?
Maturity is going to require that we take a look at our inconsistencies.
Trapped is the natural condition of Adam's race;
trapped before we even feel dismal and forlorn.
That He enters in to our prison at all, is so great a love unmeasurable.
But we spit on Him if it doesn't include a scepter in our hand.
